Policy News: Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) In March the House passed a bill reauthorizing CCDBG and TANF, but the Senate still needs to take action. The proposal in the Senate includes a $1 billion increase in CCDBG over 5 years, which is not enough to maintain current service levels for the next 5 years. However, Sen. Snowe (Maine) has promised to propose an amendment to increase this to $5-6 billion. No action is expected from the Senate until next year. Facts in Action, November/December 2003 |
