Facts to Clip and Quote: Number of Family Child Care Providers Grows
The number of licensed family child care providers has grown tremendously over the last 15 years. From 1988 to 2003 the number of licensed providers increased from 193, 044 to 300,032 -- an increase of 55%. In comparison, the number of regulated child care centers increased by 26% between 1991 and 2003 to a total of 116, 409 centers.
